Dark Skies Cumbria

Dark Skies Cumbria

“I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.”

– Vincent van Gogh

Wild Rose Holiday Park, Rediscover the night sky.

Wild Rose Holiday Park is set within the breath-taking landscape of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a hidden gem for astronomy enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

The North Pennines is in fact the darkest mainland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the darkest areas in the country.

Our holiday park offers a truly unforgettable experience for those seeking to immerse themselves in the wonders of the dark Cumbrian skies. Situated within an officially designated Dark Sky Discovery Site (DSDS), providing visitors with a rare opportunity to marvel at the wonder of the clear night sky.

Light pollution has become an unfortunate reality in today’s modern world, often obscuring the brilliance of the stars in many urban and suburban areas. However, in the North Pennines, we pride ourselves on preserving the purity of the night sky by implementing stringent measures to minimise light pollution.

Through careful planning and dedicated conservation efforts, we ensure that the skies above Wild Rose Holiday Park remain untainted by the glow of artificial light, allowing the stars to shine and be viewed as they should.

Why not join us and experience the magic of the North Pennines’ dark skies for yourself? Rediscover the beauty of the night sky and embrace the timeless allure of the cosmos at Wild Rose Holiday Park.
