We caught up with Graeme Baker, the Park Manager at Wild Rose to find out more about his job and the park.

Harrison Holidays: Hi Graeme, how are you finding your new role as Park Manager for Wild Rose?

Graeme Baker: ‘So far I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the park. The unique location and its breathtaking scenery are just some of the park’s many attributes. The staff and owners alike have all been so friendly and I am looking forward to what we can all create here at the park over the next 12 months.’

HH: What do you enjoy most about your job?

GB: ‘I love the diversity my job role brings with every day being different. My main goal is to always try and exceed our customers’ expectations and leave someone better off than when I first speak to them.’

HH: Guests coming to Wild Rose Caravan Park for the first time will find there are excellent facilities available, including an outdoor pool, play areas for the children, and our newly refurbished bar and grill, and more developments are yet to come in 2023. So, how has the reception been to the new bar and restaurant?

GB: ‘The bar now fully operational has received some fantastic feedback, and the activities program has been received warmly. The design of the bar is fantastic and it’s a privilege to be able to showcase such a venue to our owners and holidaymakers.’

HH: What upcoming developments at the new facility are you most looking forward to in the coming year?

GB: ‘Wow, what’s not to look forward to? The development plans look superb, but if I had to pick a particular area it would be the swimming pool with its unique inside/outside design and the large span of glass is certainly going to give it the “wow” factor. Coupled with the outside seating area, it will certainly be the place to relax and unwind with the family over the summer months.’

HH: What keeps your guests returning to Wild Rose?

GB: ‘I think without a shadow of a doubt it has to be the park’s location, perfect for exploring many areas including the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales. The views from the park provide that feeling of escapism and relaxation and the newly opened bar/restaurant and the further development to follow will give guests plenty of opportunity to spend more time in the park and enjoy the facilities with loved ones.’

In 2022, our beautiful park was awarded the prestigious Travellers Choice Award after consistently receiving positive traveler reviews on TripAdvisor – an amazing accomplishment that puts Wild Rose in the top 10 per cent of accommodation properties on TripAdvisor.

HH: What essentials should guests bring on their next trip to Wild Rose?

GB: ‘If it was me it would be my golf clubs for the local course in Appleby. For the non-golf lover, walking boots and of course, a waterproof jacket (as we all know it’s not the driest location in the UK) is a must so you can explore the local hills and enjoy the natural beauty that the area offers in abundance.’

HH: If this is your first time in the area, what are the must-see local attractions for your trip?

GB: ‘I truly believe the area has something to offer for everyone whether it be the views we benefit from on the park for the person who just wants to sit back and relax, the golfing down the road at Appleby, the thousands of walking trails for the keen walker, dog lover or cyclist.

‘Our proximity to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales national park and of course the Lake District will be a tick list on most of our visitors’ checklists. If I were to recommend a couple of attractions in particular it would be Rutter Force waterfalls – perfect for a family picnic and, of course, a visit to Appleby wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Appleby Castle.’
