Why You Should Enjoy A Summer Holiday In The UK

The UK staycation was reinvented over the past couple of years when international travel was severely restricted by world events, and millions of British holidaymakers rediscovered what makes this country such a great destination for a summer holiday.

Whether you want to relax by the pool or the sea, or indulge in some more action-packed activities, more and more people are choosing to continue holidaying in the UK. Why get stressed with the hassle of travelling abroad when there is so much on offer right here on your doorstep?

The UK boasts thousands of miles of incredible coastline, with some award-winning golden, sandy beaches, breathtaking scenery in its many national parks, and awe-inspiring mountain ranges, whether you want a gentle stroll or a challenging hike. Why would you want to travel abroad, when there is so much to experience here in the UK?

Here at Harrison Holidays, we wanted to have a look at some reasons to take your next summer holiday right here in the UK.

Less travelling

Even without the widely reported chaos in UK airports, cancelled flights, and staff shortages, international travel will always mean long hours queuing and waiting in airports.

From stag and hen parties already getting the party started at 6 am, bored and frustrated children, getting stressed about catching your flight, then hours sitting on a crowded plane, it’s an anxiety-ridden start to your holiday.

If you’re driving to your UK holiday destination, you can make your own itinerary, set off when you want, stop and take in some sightseeing or take a break whenever you want. You won’t have the same restrictions with luggage allowances either, so pack your golf clubs, hiking gear, and all the toys the children want to bring without worrying about excess baggage fees!

Harrison Holidays has eight holiday parks across the North of England, meaning you never have that far to travel to find yourself in your home from home, without the hassle of airport transfers, finding your passports, and cancelled flights.

Beautiful countryside

The countryside of the UK has inspired poets and artists for hundreds of years, from the lakes, peaks and woodlands of the Lake District, the rolling green hills and moorland of the Yorkshire Dales, and the Peak District, and the North Yorkshire Moors.

It’s ideal for those who want to enjoy everything from a gentle country stroll to a more challenging hike, and there are even more activities for adrenaline-seekers, such as climbing and zip-lining.

Whether you want to go horse riding, golfing, or simply admire the majesty of the British Isles, there’s something for everyone. And you’re guaranteed to find a country pub with amazing vistas at the end of your day!

Why not book a holiday at Wild Rose Holiday Park in Cumbria, and find the beautiful Lake District on your doorstep, or discover the historic Northumberland countryside that surrounds Percy Wood Holiday Park.

Fantastic Coastlines

The UK is an island, after all, so if you’re wanting to explore beaches and unspoilt coves and bays and take a dip in the sea, there are thousands of miles of incredible coastline to discover.

Whether you want to enjoy an ice cream on the Victorian piers of Southport, eat fish and chips overlooking the sea in Scarborough or Whitby, or even go hiking along the Northumberland Coast Path, there’s no end to the amazing places you can discover.

Go fishing, try surfing or paddle boarding, or sit back on the beach and build sandcastles, you’re guaranteed to have a wonderful day at the seaside!

Save money
There are far fewer costs involved when taking a holiday in the UK. There are no airport transfers to book, no unexpected mobile roaming charges popping up on your bill, no visas required, or passports to renew. You can then save this money to use as you wish and enjoy yourself while you’re away!

Amazing food

Whether it’s quaint towns and quintessentially English villages nestled in the hills and valleys of the English countryside, the country pubs found at the end of every hike or walk, or the cities within easy reach of our amazing holiday parks, you’ll always find amazing food and drink.

From pop-up street food fairs found in most towns and cities to award-winning restaurants and country pubs, you’ll find far better food than in many family-friendly foreign resorts. From locally caught seafood at the coast to locally-sourced ingredients in amazing dishes served in pubs and restaurants, you had better be ready for a feast!

Family-friendly

Going on holiday with a multi-generational family can be a great idea, but it can also be a challenge. By choosing to take holiday in the UK, there’s less hassle in arranging travel, and you can break up the journey and take rest stops (and toilet breaks!) to make it all that bit easier.

Without having luggage allowance to worry about, there’s no problem with needing to take a baby carrier, high chairs, prams, and any other items that will make your holiday a little easier.

Many of our holiday parks are family-friendly, with play areas at Percy Wood, Wild Rose, and White Rose, which also has a swimming pool, as does Riverside Park, where you’ll also find an adventure playground!

Less paperwork

No passports are required, nor checking it is in date, no visas, and no exchange rates. All those little bits of paper you need to arrange for a foreign holiday you can just forget about when taking a holiday in the UK. Anything else you’ll already have with you, such as your driving license. It means exploring somewhere new and exciting is as easy as driving into town!

Dog friendly!

We’re a nation of pet lovers in the UK, and it can be heartbreaking to have to leave your furry friend in kennels when you go away. Thankfully, there are hundreds of beautiful locations in the UK which will welcome your dog, and you and your dog will love them too.

There are amazing walks for your four-legged friend, from moorland to beaches, and so many pubs that welcome dogs, even muddy ones after a long walk!

Many of our fantastic holiday parks also welcome pets, such as Riverside Holiday Park, with its own dog-walking path that weaves through the local countryside.

Have we convinced you to take a holiday in the UK this summer? Why not take a look at our holiday parks across the north of the UK, whether you’re planning a family holiday or a romantic getaway, you’ll find a destination that suits you perfectly with Harrison Holidays.
