Charity & Community

Our parks are at the heart of their local communities. Here is a look at just a few of the charities we support, the projects we proudly champion, and the ways we love giving back.

Families enjoying a break at a Harrison Holidays park

The charities and projects we support

As a family-owned business, giving back has always been part of who we are. These are the charities and community projects we’re proud to stand behind.

  • Whiteleys Retreat Near Crofthead

Whiteleys provides free therapeutic short breaks for children, young people, and their families living with cancer or other serious illnesses, set in the Ayrshire countryside just outside Ayr. At Harrison Holidays, we were delighted to support their vital work by donating the full use of a brand new caravan all year round. We ensured the accommodation was fully maintained, cleaned, and equipped with Wi-Fi, a large outdoor decking area, and accessible ramp entry.

  • Make A Wish Foundation - Children's Charity (Swim for Finn)

Fundraising in Finn’s name, and a cause that’s very close to our team’s hearts. At just five years old, on the verge of his very first family holiday, Finn became unwell. After multiple visits to doctors who suspected reflux, his mum trusted her instincts and fought for an OCT eye scan. That determination uncovered swollen optic nerves, leading to an urgent CT scan and a heartbreaking diagnosis: Stage 4 Medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. What followed was a year of extraordinary grit. Finn faced brain surgery, over ten rounds of chemotherapy at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, and six weeks of radiotherapy at The Christie in Manchester. Through it all, Finn never stopped fighting. Today, he has proudly rung the bell, returned to school, and shown everyone what true courage looks like. On the 7th November, We are taking to the water for a 24hr Swimathon at Riverside Holiday Park to honour his resilience, champion early diagnosis, and raise crucial support for young warriors like him.

  • Mind Charity - Lancaster

Thanks to the talents of professional snooker player Ian Burns and our team at Riverside Holiday Park in Southport we’ve raised £2,500 for charity Lancashire Mind, which is based in Chorley, but works across the county to make a difference to people’s mental health.

  • EPIC KIDZ Childrens Charity

Our colleague Alex Atkinson who is taking on the incredible challenge of the Lakeland 100, an ultra trail race that takes place in the Lake District. In 2023 Alex took on the challenge of his first ultra 50 mile trail run when he raced in the Lakeland 50. Now he is set to take things to the limit when he tackles the Lakeland 100, described as the most spectacular long distance trail race that has ever taken place within the UK. Alex will be running in aid of children’s charity EPIC KIDZ and everyone from Harrison Holidays is backing him all the way.

  • The Chronicle Sunshine Find The Queenscourt Hospice

Lakes 3000 is an annual trek organised by the Chronicle Sunshine Fund, a North East charity that provides specialist and adapted equipment to children aged 0-19 living with disabilities, additional needs, chronic and terminal illness. A fun party atmosphere got things underway for Elaine Stocker, who set off on the Star Trekk, taking in the bright lights of Southport. She joined hundreds of other walkers on a seven-mile moonlit walk around the town and surrounding area all to raise funds for Queenscourt Hospice. As the walkers made their way around the nearby villages, including Birkdale and not too far from our Riverside Holiday Park where Elaine is based as a Holiday Home Owners Administrator, they were greeted by the pink ribbons adorning trees and buildings to welcome and support them.

Everyone deserves a break.

It’s what we do for a living, so it’s what we try to give back: to families going through the toughest of times, to animals in need of a home, and to the communities around our parks.

A Harrison Holidays holiday home

How we give back

Support comes in lots of shapes. Some of it is money, some of it is time, and some of it is a few days away from it all.

  • Charity days

Fundraising days across our parks, bringing guests, owners and our teams together for a good cause.

  • Holiday accommodation

Stays in our holiday homes for families and causes that need a break more than most.

  • Donations

Money raised and donated directly to the charities we support, so it reaches the people and animals who need it.
